CONTIFLEX® IW/TW/SW

Conveyor Belts for Maximum Material Handling Performance

Conti conveys confidence...
CONTIFLEX IW/TW/SW conveyor belts

The Concept

CONTIFLEX IW,TW AND SW steel cable conveyor belts close the gap between our proven line of EP textile belts and our STAHLCORD steel cable belts for maximum requirements. The tension member is a body of thin steel cables joined to transverse cords made from steel or monofilpolyamide to form a stable unit, delivery not only maximum transmission of tensile forces but also reliable protection from longitudinal tears and penetrations. Elongation properties are between those of textile ply and steel cable belts.

CONTIFLEX belts thus permit large center distances and short take-ups, and are, at the same time, capable of withstanding a high degree of extra punishment through the impact of large lump materials. There is a broad selection of cover compounds allowing the belts to be ideally matched to the application in question.Advanced manufacturing techniques on a continuous double band (DOBA) press, which is used by Contitech transportbandsystem as the only manufacturer for these types of belts, optimise the superb characteristics of the special tension member.

Applications
CONTIFLEX steel cable conveyor belts can be used in all areas of bulk materials transport. Belt construction can be adapted by means of suitable cover grades to cope with extremely hostile service conditions or, for example, to meet the high expectations on belt life in long distance conveying. Our engineering specialist will be pleased to help you select the right type of belts to do the job you have in mind. Possible areas of application are as well as in numerous special fields of conveying technology. The tension member, incidentally, is also ideal for elevator belts and other special duty products.

Thanks to it's steel cord transverse reinforcement in the top cover, CONTIFLEX IW can be used for universal application because it delivers troughability with a high impact resistance. CONTIFLEX TW is ideal for medium impact forces and provides excellent troughability, even with narrow belt widths. With it's steel cord reinforcements in both covers, CONTIFLEX SW is suitable for applications involving heavy punishment at the loading point, and yet still retains it splendid troughing characteristics.

Other cover gauges are available by request. An optimum combination
of tension member and belt cover always insures a low cost overall design.

To determine the belt weight, add approximately 1.15 kg/m²(or 1.45 kg/m²
for the Vulkan TV grade) per mm of cover thickness to the carcass weight

Advantages at a glance
  • High conveying capabilities
  • Precision belt alignment
  • High rubber steel adhesion strength
  • Low stretch
  • Highly elastic,
    no
    retentioning
  • Highly resistant to impact
    damage
  • Good troughability
  • Extremely long service life
  • Minimum maintenance
  • Short takeups
  • Small pulley diameters
  • Low initial cost
  • Low running costs
Low elongation, high elasticity based on a reference load of 10% elongation of CONTIFLEX steel cable conveyor belts is considerably lower (0.4%) than that of textile belts made from synthetic fabrics. Required take ups are thus approximately halved. CONTIFLEX tension members have a greater degree of elasticity then those of STAHLCORD belts, making them relatively insensitive to excessive local stressing.

Manufacturing on the double-band press

Continuous vulcanization guarantees maximum
product quality and in-service reliability

Well-built to withstand impact abuse CONTIFLEX steel-cable belts have a exceptional
resistance to impact damage. Thanks to the non-rigid-woven construction of the carcass, they
are flexible and capable of absorbing impact energy. Localised peek loads due to large lumps
of material falling from a greater height are coped with more effectively.

Hot-materials resistors in conjunction with special cover grades, CONTIFLEX steel-cable
conveyor belts fulfill the requirements of ISO categories 1, 11, 111. And their metallic carcass
protects the belt from being burned though when handling red hot materials, so that conveying
operations can continue for lengthy periods, even under unfavorable conditions.

High tear resistance

Tear resistance is the measure of resistance to long longitudinal tears in conveyor belts. This resistance is particularly high in a CONTIFLEX
steel-cable conveyor belt on account of the transverse reinforcement built into the tension member.
