ContiTronic conveyor belt system-for identifying,
controlling and monitoring belt conveyors

The System

Transponders are electronic components (integrated circuits) capable of storing,
sending and receiving data. Vulcanised into conveyor belts, they provide a whole
variety of functions. They identify the conveyor belt by storing and transmitting all
relevant data about belt type, design, application etc.
They monitor the conveyor belt's condition and report damage (longitudinal
slitting). They control the belt, or sections of it by analysing data via the host system.
Transponders can be used in all kinds of conveyor belts in many branches of industry.

Conti's host computer can be programmed,
as control unit, to meet the requirements of
the application concerned. Performance features
comprise various standard solutions, as well
as complex central-control tasks. All inform-
ation can be presented in a visual form or ad-
apted following normal data transfer
( e.g. DUST 3964 ) from already existing
control systems.

Belt monitoring for early warning of slit
damage is guaranteed by ContiTronic
SAFE.
This is achieved by connecting
the transponders to special loops.
  • Loops are identified so that damage
  • is pinpointed clearly
  • Damage is localised
  • Loops are recognised even if they
    are damaged
  • Control loops are easy to add and
    remove

ContiTronic JOINTDATA provides belt joint identification via special read/write transponders which are vulcenised into the belt joint:
  • All data can be written to the
    transponder on-line
  • Continuous return documentation
    is possible (total quality)
  • Data security is ensured by
    cryptological encoding
  • Identification is also passive
    via a portable unit
  • Input data is permanently readable
    and retrievable

ContiTronic BELTCHECK automates
and simplifies belt inspection while the
system is in operation:
  • Conducts an automatic recognition run
  • Zero mark through belt metre definition
  • Has a built-in password, function
  • Records belt cycles and idle times
  • Allows teleprocessing of data
  • Can be networked with fieldbus interface
  • Information on belt condition is given as
    LED readings
  • LCD display (4x20 characters)

Belt section control is carried out by
ContiTronic SECTION which detects
and distinguishes between the various
transponder signals.
Secondary information is assigned to
the predefined belt sections:
  • Defines unrelated belt sections
  • Recognises different kinds
    of material handled
  • Controls feed belts
  • Controls stackers and spreaders
  • Monitors and keeps track of the
    various belt sections

Data can also be recorded independently and locally with the Conti Tronic MOBILE unit comprising:
  • RAM-programmed manual device
    as controller
  • Variable, quick-connect aerials
  • Read-only function for recognising
    transponder identifications
  • Read/write function for
    identifying and/or overwriting
    transponder data
  • Full database function
